Chocolate Chip

The chocolate chip is not just for cookies anymore! There are a whole list of tasty treats that can be made with the traditional chocolate chip.

Chocolate Chip

The chocolate chip gets a new identity

Well that might be taking it a bit to far... For most of us the chocolate chip will always remain in our minds as the key ingredient in our favorite cookie. But there a lot of other things that you can combine with them to make truly delectable desserts. The chocolate chip has been imprisoned in grandma's cookies too long. Help it break free of the burden of the past and try a few of the other ideas that we have found to be very yummy.

Chocolate chip cheese ball, anyone?

This one does sound admittedly, well, gross at first but it is not your average cheeseball (if there is such a thing). It is more of a sweet dessert type of cheeseball. You will need:

Soften the cream cheese and then beat it together with the butter and vanilla until it gets nice and creamy.

Slowly add the sugars until they're well blended.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Place mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap and form into a ball.

Refrigerate for one hour.

Serve your big chocolate chip cheese ball with the chocolate graham crackers.

This will definitely be a big hit with children and other adults without a refined palate. It would be a great addition to all the treats that you serve for your child's birthday party or other festive children's holiday. We are not convinced that all adults will appreciate the cheeseball, but there will be other goodies for them to partake of at the party! Have your kids help you with this recipe, as there is no cooking involved it would be a great way to introduce them to the wonderful world of cooking.
