Chocolate Chips

Chocolate chips for breakfast? Oh yeah, your little ones will be so excited about chocolate chips in their pancakes.

Chocolate Chips

Chocolate chips- the Saturday morning wake-up call

Your kids are probably crazy about the chocolate chip cookies that you make for them when they are good. But have you ever tried to do the same special thing for them on a Saturday morning? Just seeing the look on their faces when they realize that mama has put chocolate chips into the pancakes would be worth it! It is not a recipe for everyday, of course, but it a great way to reward your children for a job well done. Maybe their grades have picked up, or their little league team just won their first game, maybe the training wheels just came off of their first bike. These pancakes are a sweet reward for any hurdle that has been passed!

This recipe also includes a honey syrup to top off your pancakes with chocolate chips:

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In a separate bowl combine the egg, milk, and oil.

Add the combined wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix it up well and add the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased hot griddle. Turn them only when bubbles form on the top and cook until golden brown. Keep them warm.

Combine the honey, butter, and cinnamon in a small microwavable bowl and microwave, uncovered, until butter is melted and the syrup is hot. Serve it with the pancakes!

As you can see, this is quite an easy recipe to follow and make. It could also be made more fun if the children want to help to do some of the stirring and mixing. Tell them today you are going to have a very special version of the pancakes they know and then let them pour in the chocolate chips that will be the surprise ingredient.
